Anna Delveys Attorney Responds To The Views Criticism Of The Fake Heiress Joining Dancing With The Stars

Anna Delvey's Attorney Responds to The View's Criticism of Fake Heiress Joining 'Dancing With the Stars'

Delvey's Attorney Slams 'The View' Hosts for 'Judgmental' Comments

Anna Delvey's attorney, Audrey Thomas, has slammed the hosts of 'The View' for their 'judgmental' comments about her client joining 'Dancing With the Stars.' In a statement to Insider, Thomas said that the hosts' comments were 'uninformed and unfair.'

On Wednesday's episode of 'The View,' the hosts discussed Delvey's casting on 'Dancing With the Stars' and expressed their disapproval. Whoopi Goldberg called it a 'slap in the face' to Delvey's victims, while Sunny Hostin said it was 'tone-deaf.'

Thomas Defends Delvey's Right to Redemption

Thomas defended Delvey's right to redemption, saying that she has 'paid her debt to society' and is 'trying to move on with her life.' She also pointed out that Delvey was never convicted of any violent crimes.

"Anna is a complex character, and her story is not black and white," Thomas said. "She made mistakes, but she is also a victim of circumstance. She is trying to rebuild her life, and she deserves a second chance."

'The View' Hosts Criticized for 'Victim Blaming'

Thomas's comments have been met with support from some quarters, but others have accused 'The View' hosts of 'victim blaming.' Many social media users have pointed out that Delvey's victims are not the only ones who have been affected by her crimes.

One Twitter user wrote, "The View hosts are acting like Anna Delvey is the only person who has ever committed a crime. She's not a murderer or a rapist. She made a mistake, and she's paying for it. Let her move on with her life."

Delvey's Past Crimes

Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, was convicted in 2019 of multiple counts of grand larceny and theft of services. She was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison, but was released in February 2021 after serving just under four years.

Delvey's crimes involved defrauding banks, hotels, and individuals out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. She posed as a wealthy German heiress and used fake documents to obtain loans and services that she could not afford.
