Bonn: Celebrating 75 Years of Democracy

Bonn and democracy are inextricably linked. Seventy-five years ago, the city served as the cradle of the Basic Law, West Germany's foundational document.
To commemorate this momentous anniversary, Bonn, in collaboration with the federal government and other partners, will embark on a year-long celebration of democracy.
Bonn: City of the Basic Law
On May 25, 2024, Bonn will host a grand festival in the former plenary building, the very site where the Basic Law was drafted and proclaimed. The event, entitled "75 Years of Basic Law: Democracy Made in Bonn," will showcase a vibrant and engaging program that celebrates the city's role in shaping German democracy.
